It is with a deeply heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Sabrina Lindsay, the visionary founder and former owner of Marlin Academy Childcare.

To the families, children, and staff of Dún Laoghaire, Sabrina was far more than a business owner—she was a protector of childhood, a champion for children's mental well-being, and the creative heart that turned our academy into a magical treasure trove of wonder and safety.

A Vision Born from Deep Wisdom and Empathy

When Sabrina founded Marlin Academy, she did so with a unique and profound vision. She believed that childcare should extend far beyond traditional supervision; she wanted to nurture the complete emotional, social, and psychological life of every child who walked through our doors.

With an extraordinary academic background—holding a Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and a Master’s in Psychotherapy and Counselling—Sabrina chose to dedicate her vast expertise to the early years of development. As a registered Play Therapist, she understood that play is a child’s natural language. She poured that knowledge into crafting an environment where children felt deeply seen, completely safe, and uniquely understood.

Bringing Magic to Dún Laoghaire

Anyone who has stood before the large black door of Marlin Academy, lifted the lion knocker, and stepped inside knows the distinct atmosphere Sabrina created. She carefully chose colors, artwork, and design elements to evoke an immediate sense of calm, comfort, and pure joy.

Perhaps her greatest and most lasting contribution to our children was the creation of "The Zen Den." Long before mindfulness became a mainstream concept in early education, Sabrina knew that children needed a dedicated zone of tranquility. Through the Zen Den, she introduced:

  • Teddy Meddy: Teaching little ones vital breathing and emotional regulation techniques.

  • Emotional Toolkits: Giving children the language and strategies to navigate complex feelings.

  • Radical Inclusivity: Ensuring that every child, regardless of their individual needs, had a space where bullying and discrimination were never tolerated.

Under her guidance, the sun always seemed to shine on the garden where children danced among cascades of ribbons and batons, completely at ease with who they were.

Carrying Her Light Forward

While Sabrina is no longer physically with us, her presence remains woven into the very fabric of Marlin Academy. Every piece of vibrant artwork on our walls, every moment of peace found in the Zen Den, and every laugh shared in our classrooms is a direct reflection of her beautiful soul and enduring legacy.

Our dedicated team of educators and staff remain deeply committed to upholding the rigorous safety standards, compassionate partnerships, and inclusive environment that Sabrina championed so fiercely. We continue to guide, mentor, and protect your children with the same unwavering devotion she modeled for us every single day.

To Sabrina's family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched: we extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences. Thank you, Sabrina, for creating a sanctuary of magic and healing for our community. Your light will never be forgotten.

"The magic of the Zen Den can only be kept alive by the vibrancy of the children who attend..." — A beautiful reminder from Sabrina's core philosophy that we will cherish forever.
